Form is the first and oldest style of Feng Shui, and some would say it accounts for 50 - 80% of the importance in a Feng Shui consultation. It studies the orientation of a building in relationship with the land and water, and how qi (energy) flows and assembles in the space. In an urban situation, this translates to how a building relates to the surrounding buildings, roads, fences, trees and open spaces. The terms ‘mountain’ and ‘water’ may be literal or relate to stillness & support and movement respectively. The ‘sitting’ and ‘facing’ directions of a home are identified. Form also examines the positioning of rooms and furniture and the internal qi flow and assembly. Beds and seating areas are best placed in qi assembly areas.
